The key to Obama is that he has always been an outsider looking in. That is what makes him unique to Americans. He is able to see things from a different vantage point. He has sort of a detached quality as if viewing things from afar, even himself. Yet what he hasn't done is integrate his emotion with intellect. He keeps his emotions at arms distance and in some ways it keeps him from being able to define or articulate himself. All those eloquent speeches are things that he has figured out being an outsider looking in. That quality of being an outsider is why people subscribe him being the chosen one.
1. When he was an infant, he was the child of an interracial couple which was not the norm even in Hawaii in the 1960's
2. When he was 6 he moved to Indonesia..
A. An American kid in a foreign land
B. An American Kid looking back at America through Indonesian
media/cultural/political eyes
3. when he was 10 he moved back to the USA with his White Grandparent. In other words a kid of colour in a white American world.
4. When moving back to the mainland to go to college coming face to face with racism against African Americans which he had never been part of.
A. When he went to Columbia he realized that he wasn't an American of African heritage but a Kenyan American and that is where he adopted his formal Kenyan name of Barrack. About the time his father was killed
5. Realizing that he didn't know anything about being an African American he decided to find out and did what his Mother had done. That is go on an Anthropological Field Study by becoming a Community Organizer in South Chicago.
