Watching the Charlie Rose interview of Nancy Pelosi tonight I began wondering where I could get some of the Kool Aid she was drinking. Then it dawned on me that she must have been the Acid Queen who dispensed the Electrically laden Kool Aid at the Ken Kesey Acid Tests in the early 1960's. Her underlying frenetic and staccato demeanor seems so eerily reminiscent of Dennis Hoppers character in the movie Apocalypse Now as to be prescient.
Has our elected government become so Nancy in Wonderlandish that they can pass a Stimulus Bill that puts America 2.5 Trillion in the hole and in the same breath state that we should be concerned with deficit spending. Are there any adults left minding the store or has the store already been sold to the Chinese.
That they call the new era of Capitalism the "Partnership of the Public and Private sectors." Somehow Orwell comes to mind when presented with such novel economic theory. Perhaps they should call it the Orwell Theory of Economics.
Excuse me, but I for one prefer reality to the soaring heights of optimism that this trans formative era of change is bringing about. For I believe in the laws of unintended consequence. That is that to declare war on the investor class as Jamie Dimon so eloquently stated this week is to hasten the demise of modern civilization as it can not be maintained at these levels with out the investor class which contains institutional investors such as mutal funds, and pension plans both public and private. For it is the Investor Class that provides the mechanism for the investment of capital that provides the economy of scale that is required by the global civilization.
