The impressions one has after watching the 18 minute speech on Iraq President Obama gave was that he had the sound of a man who has dried up inside and is about to be blown away by the wind. Of a man whose emotions have been sucked dry and all that is left is the hollow sound of an empty drum. Several times his voice just dropped off after a word, and once after saying the word 'Darkness" he nearly cracked and caved in emotionally.

During the first half of the speech one got the distinct impression that he was identifying his personal travails as President with the course of the struggle in Iraq. Obama knows that American Public opinion is running against him, Yet it seems that only a sense of service and duty inspired by the heroism of the US Troops propels him to carry onward with his vision of a better America.

On thinking about the future of President Obama one can clearly see that his mental fatigue is great. His health may fail as he tries to govern with only his intellect instead of his heart and intellect. In this there is a distinct chance that President Obama may not be able to serve out his full term as President.

President Obama may turn out to be a tragic figure in American history as one President whose intellect caused him to fly too close to the sun and not listen to the hearts of people he was elected to govern. His own hubris and ambition may be the rocks of inflexibility that he and his Presidency is shattered upon.
