Achieving the Jeffersonian Utopia

Two hundred years ago Thomas Jefferson envisioned America as being an agrarian utopia. Thomas Jefferson vision is about to take place, for President Obama's Cap and Trade carbon reduction program will accomplish this within several decades.

The unintended consequences of President Obama's vision for America is not only going to bankrupt Americas future but it is also going to leave the majority of Americans impoverished. the following results will ensue from this program.

The CEO of Duke Power said, " That the American peoples residential electric bill will increase by 40% if Cap and Trade is passed." This is a de facto tax increase on the American people as the cash will flow through the power producers into the governments coffers. The result of this de facto tax increase will be that the American people will reduce the amount of power they consume. They will purchase less goods and services as the cost of the power increases the cost of those products. Also they will not have as much money left over after providing for the necessities of life.

Second and more importantly the Obama plan envisions that the Cap and Trade will create good paying jobs in manufacturing the resulting Green Energy production capability. This is flawed logic, as the cost of power to manufacture anything in America increases it also increases the cost of the product. This will result in those manufacturing jobs including the Green jobs going over seas to nations who have a lower cost of production basis because they have no Cap and Trade policies. This will leave America with virtually no manufacturing base on American shores. America will not manufacture anything, as the cost is simply too high.

The result for the US government of these two factors over time will be lessened tax revenues as there will be lessened economic activity resulting in massive under employment and impoverishment for the American people. Which will leave America with only one viable industry and that will be agriculture. Thus the fulfillment of the Jeffersonian utopia of America being an agrarian society.
