By knowing a persons life history, keenly listening and by observation of what the man says and does one can get a pretty clear picture of what he is all about. Also by listening to others observations and perceptions one can fill in the blanks. One then puts the pieces of the puzzle together to get a clear picture of what makes him tick. The picture has to hold together or work or one has to go back and redefine. when a new fact comes in it has to fit into the puzzle or one has to redefine. Until one gets a whole working rational of the mans personality and character That is basically a simplification of what I do. I have been doing it for 36 years. . .
The piece entitled "Change" was not about Obama but about history and extrapolating past events to get some semblance of likely events going forward. I have written other things about Obama which define his personality and character in greater detail, some of which you have read and others which were sent to other places. In the end Obama is fairly easy to anticipate, yet there is an air of mystery about him? What that tells you is that Obama remains a bit of a mystery to himself in that he is not able to present a definable picture/story of himself to others. The reason for his not being able to define himself is that he tends to keep his emotions at arms length to remain cool calm and collected. He thinks that to be a great man one has to remain cool, calm and collected. Yet that is an affectation because he would not need to keep his emotions at arms length if he really were cool calm and collected. Lincoln by contrast would cry unabashedly when he heard of a friends death, and there has never been another master of the politically possible like Lincoln was in American history. That is who Obama emulates as evidenced by the Lincoln Bible at the inauguration and his continuous reading about Lincoln. Where did this desire of being a great man wanting to leave a mark on history come from, most likely from his one meeting with his father after which he dropped the Barry and became Barrack. Barrack is a serious name for a serious person isn't it?
To be a great man one has to have self disciple, to be a great man one has to be an effective leader, to be a great man is not to fail but succeed. All an affectation of someone who has the ambition to be somebody. He will subordinate ideology to achieve his goals. He already subordinates his emotion to achieve his goals so why not his ideology if that is what the situation deems as being necessary.(Pragmatism)..Now do you get it? It is all about being the great man.that is the ultimate goal.
