The impressions one has after watching the 18 minute speech on Iraq President Obama gave was that he had the sound of a man who has dried up inside and is about to be blown away by the wind. Of a man whose emotions have been sucked dry and all that is left is the hollow sound of an empty drum. Several times his voice just dropped off after a word, and once after saying the word 'Darkness" he nearly cracked and caved in emotionally.

You don't have to tell me things are bad, worse than bad. But the sky isn't going to fall, the end isn't nye and we are not doomed. What is going to happen and we are well on the road to this end is that the USA is just not going to be as prosperous nor as powerful as it once was.

It is an easy shot to say BO is a "socialist" It is an easy shot to say he is incompetent or an empty suit. For that is to dismiss the man behind the mask, to let him off easy.

BO is a flawed personality. To put it very simply he does not integrate his emotion with his intellect. Due to his emotionally unstable upbringing he tends to separate his intellect from his emotions. BO tends to stay in his intellect, as is reflected by his demeanor of being Cool, Calm and Collected. General McCrystal in his conversations found BO to be detached. Detached from what? His emotional grounding.

As a note I am not quiet happy with my historical narrative from the 1980's forward. It requires a bit more evaluation and reflection to be an accurate model . But is posted for what it is worth?

The joke is on anyone who thinks they have the slightest control over anything.

With regards to events there is an illusion that things are under control..most of the time events fall within a range that gives the illusion of control, then an extraordinary event or series of events can skew that illusion. It is at that time that fear sets in and men panic.

This is what happened in the fall of 2008. Two factors set men to panic at that time

The advent of WW1 is cited as being a Black Swan. However the situation in Europe in the second decade of the last century was akin to having a child sitting on a keg of gun powder while playing with matches and was recognized as such at the time. The only question was which match would set the powder off..That event eventually morphed into something that became uncontrollable and that was the unknown and unexpected event. Everybody thought it would be a short war..what it became was a earth changing event.

Barrack Obama is a bright guy, never think that he isn't. He has the ability to think about problems in an abstract form, and come up with some pretty good insights. For this the Liberals and Media have fallen in love with the beguiling voice of Barrack Obama.

This observation goes beyond trite partisan politics, but instead goes to the heart and soul of a man. It takes a look at insides of a mans character and the "true grit" that he brings to the table.
